The Tagus International region has a great natural wealth, which is why it was classified as a protected area in 2000.
In this tour, we will show you some of the best areas for bird watching within the protected area, which covers the valley of the international section of the Tagus River and respective adjacent areas that include areas of cork oak, holm oak and cereal steppes.
This tour has a duration of 3 days and two nights, which we will fill with a lot of bird watching activity.
Évora or Abrantes
This tour is very focused on birds of prey (big eagles and vultures), although we expect to find as well birds that inhabit “montados” and Mediterranean scrubland. The beauty of the area is complemented by the villages that continue to resist desertification in one of the roughest regions of Portugal.
Some of the bird species that we can observe during the tour:
We offer the possibility to start from two different points. We will continue our trip to “Portas de Rodão”, where we will stop to look at the local birds and to picnic.
After lunch we travel to the Natural Park area with several stops to watch birds.
We will be staying on a half-board basis at the 3*** hotel during the two nights of the tour.
We will visit several points within the Natural Park area, such as Rosmaninhal, Posto dos Alares and Segura.
After breakfast, we start the return journey, but on the way there is plenty of time for bird watching.
